Spoilt Mummy

As part of getting into the habit if posting more regularly just thought I'd share my amazing weekend. As well as download the blogger app and my first attempt posting from the mobile :)

Once again thanks to my amazing hubby I have had the best weekend. Came home from work last night to a spotless house ready for the family to arrive for MD lunch such a nice surprise to walk into that.

This morning our little angels presented me with a gorgeous new handbag (couldn't have chosen better myself ;) ) and their handmade items from daycare along with a new coffee mug from each of them. Then we were up dressed and out ready for our 8.30am brekkie reservation. We walked in and there on the table was a gorgeous vase of flowers waiting for me which I am told the girls chose themselves. I could not be more proud of our girls. They ordered their breakfast then sat there as good as gold while they ate most of what was on their plates. We did not have to tell them off once during breakfast. We then had a little walk along the pier and waterfront before heading home so hubby could prepare the feast. He made a beautiful spread enjoyed by the whole family then him and FIL tidied up the kitchen and did all the dishes. Sitting at work now but looking forward to heading home to my cosy bed and getting up to day 1 of round 2 tomorrow.

Round 1 Reflections

I have been reflecting today on my results from the last round and thinking about what I want to achieve this round, here is how it looks

Last Round:
Weight loss – 10.6kg
Percentage weight loss – 11.5%
Measurements – 53cm lost
BMI was 30.4 BMI is now 26.9
Can now run 2.1km/15 minutes non stop

This round I would like to:
Lose 7kg
Get my BMI into the healthy range 18.5-24.9
Increase my running distance to 3.5-5km non stop
Update the blog more often
Fit into a size 12 pair of pants – this is something I cannot remember ever doing in my life. Size 16 is my pants size, well not anymore, I currently reside in a 14 with all my 16’s held up with belts, a 14 is the smallest I can remember ever being able to squeeze my backside into, I am super excited to think that a size 12 is actually a realistic goal that I CAN achieve. My work clothes are all hanging off me and I am in serious need to a trip to the alteration place as buying new suits is just way too expensive

Looking back over everyone’s round 1 reflections I cannot help but feel a bit inspired, we are all now getting over the glitz and glamour of the finale party and getting ready to knuckle down, smash out the next 12 weeks and meet up lighter, stronger & louder than ever before in Adelaide
A quick shout out to my amazing support team who I could not do this without. My girls who keep me honest every day through our FB catch up’s especially Jules, Heather & Megan who understand this process every step of the way. My little angels who ask me every day “mummy are you doing your exercises?’ and most importantly my husband. I could never have done this and continue to do this without his support, he organises our girls so I have the time to go to the gym, he helps with our meals, he asks if I should be having that if I look like I’m about to eat something naughty, he listens to me carry on and on about whatever small achievement I managed that week and to his credit never bitches about the fact I take so much ‘me’ time. He now tells me he loves seeing me walk around in my new outfits – he likes the little dresses best :) and last night he gave me a piggy back....WTF I am too heavy to piggy back....aren’t I???? Well not anymore!!

I will just leave with a few pics from our amazing night at the Melbourne 12WBT finale party. There were supossed to be more but i can't work out how to bloody flip them round the right way

OK wow what a ride. Round 1 (my first ever round) done and dusted. LOVE LOVE LOVE this program. Have changed my way of thinking completely, was super lazy before 12wbt now I hate those days that I miss the gym. In the lead up to round 1 I lost some weight by myself, then through pre season and the last 12 weeks I have shed 18kgs. This round I would like to get rid another 7 and then keep on getting fitter, stronger and healthier.
This week between rounds I’ll be revisiting all of the pre season tasks and setting my new goals, focussing on what the next 12 weeks will have in store for me
Good luck to all the newbie’s, this time 12 weeks ago I was one of you, you can do it but you must be committed, do not think that you will be successful in this program if you are not willing to take on the advice from our fearless leader and battle those demons head on
You will 'meet' some amazing inspirational people over the next 12 weeks and hear some truly inspiring stories. I just had the most amazing weekend celebrating with everyone at finale and believe me it is something to use as a reward for the end of round.

Good luck to all xx

Catching Up

My husband just reminded me a few days ago that it had been a long time between posts. I’m really not sure what to write about. Let me think back over the last few weeks and see what I can find....

I have been determined to start running so I decided that while at the gym I would ramp up the treadmill and do some running intervals. My first attempt saw me manage 1.5 mins of running between walks, I the next day I pushed to 2 mins, I think from there it went to 4mins then 7mins then I made it to my 1st goal of running for 10mins nonstop. Since then I haven’t made it back to the gym as hubby is on the road for work so I can’t get out of the house. But he is back tonight so I will head to gym after work tomorrow run my 10mins being as I now know I can do it and then in the coming weeks I will try to build on it. My Big running goal for now is to run 5km nonstop and participate in the local fun run that raises funds for the children’s ward at Geelong hospital. Last year I barely managed to run any of it, this year I am determined to run the whole thing! A friend of mine has a husband who just ran his first half marathon; he started much the same as me, not able to run at all then slowly building bit by bit to reach greater distances. Using you as inspiration Greg, I WILL get there :)

Next...I had my first gain on the scales since joining 12WBT – what can I blame for this??? Me! I really did come undone over Easter, there was bad food in the house and I ate it. Again I only have myself to blame for this as no one made me eat it I chose to eat it. My meals were still perfect I kept up my exercise but the snacking in-between meals was way out of control and as such this week’s weigh in recorded a 600gm gain. I cleared all the chocolate out of the house this week and reined in my snacking and I am pleased to announce that as of this morning the 600gms is already gone. So now I need to spend the rest of my week eating the way I should be eating and continuing with my exercise to record a great loss and be on my way to my end of round goal. What is my end of round goal??? To be back at the weight I was when I got married. We are now in week 9 of the program so with a little less than 3 weeks to go I am trying to shift 4kgs. A big ask but if I can’t get there I can hopefully get close

So the plan for the next few weeks is to put my head down, train as much as I can (thank you to my wonderful husband for managing our children while I escape to the gym) eat as clean as I can and in 3 weeks time do a super crazy happy dance coz the scales show 4kgs less than they do today :)

I'm getting there....

I have just been having a little look at my recent results and just felt the need to put down in black and white just how far I’ve come in 3 short months.

·         Since I started getting healthy I have lost almost 14kg & have 6kg to go to reach my first major milestone of being back at my pre wedding weight. This will be the lightest I remember seeing the scales at. I know in the lead up to my wedding I lost 7kg so that means I am now very much at my pre baby and pre wedding weight loss weight. OMG!

·         My BMI says I am in the overweight range, what I did not realise is that before losing weight I was in the OBESE range. I knew I needed to get fit, healthy and drop a few kg’s but OBESE, oh dear, not long now and I will be in the HEALTHY weight range

·         4 weeks since starting 12WBT I’ve lost 24cms from my body

·         I have gone from being a girl that never exercises to one who gets a bit cranky and feels like a sloth if I don’t get some exercise done! I joined the gym just 3 weeks ago and am LOVING it. I love testing myself to see how many calories I can push out through my workout program. I have some very close ‘virtual’ girlfriends who must be sick of me posting to them each day how many calories I burnt since I discovered the gym and a HRM but it is a way to challenge myself and keep accountable

·         My husband gave a cuddle last night and said – it feels like there is less of you, I just smiled and said I hope so

·         My daughters look at me strapping on my runners and ask me ‘mummy are you going to do your exercise?’ I love that they can now see exercise is a normal everyday part of life

·         A guy I work with this week told me I was fading away – he said this as a compliment

·         My ‘work husband’ told me today he could see a big difference and hadn’t realised how tiny my waist was

All of the above has just really hit home for me today that I am actually doing it. I am making a difference to my health, my body, how others see me & I’m making plenty of people a bit envious of all the yummy food I keep brining into work for my lunches and dinners

Now here’s the bit that must be done to ensure I don’t go back to my old ways. I must continue eating clean, continue loving exercise, continue panning ahead, continue appreciating the support of my friends and family, continue thinking about the example I am setting for the 2 most important people in my life & continue loving what I am doing

I am living a fitter, healthier stronger life but the fittest, healthiest, strongest version of me is still to come....watch this space

My realisation - i am actually doing this

Winning

Well it’s a day of achievements. Took the plunge and joined a gym...No fancy gym full of classes, just a gym. It has workout machines, TV screens, music and trainers that’s it. My trainer actually used to train me years ago, before children back when I used to be semi fit and he remembered me J So Tony put me through my paces this morning, unfortunately my HRM played up on me so no idea how many calories I managed to burn, but I do know I’m struggling to walk this afternoon. Straight back to it tomorrow 9.30am appointment to develop my training program then I should be up and running and on track with not only my eating but the big demon of mine....exercise. I am feeling so pumped about it, YAY

Win number 2 today, a suit that has sat in the back of my wardrobe for 18 months. A beautiful chocolate coloured, well cut suit that has NEVER been worn finally fit me today...enter super excited happy dance

I am feeling like I am finally starting to get somewhere with this life change of mine and a healthy happy mummy is not far away for my little girls

Back on the Wagon

Wow what a busy week, and a busy week doesn’t make for a good weight loss. Thursday I was out for dinner with friends, they chose to go to the WORST option for me....Indian! I pre planned my meal & stuck to my guns ordering only what I had planned on ordering. Also in a world first for me dining in an Indian restaurant – I did not finish my meal! I knew I had enough so I stopped eating.

Day 2 of disaster....Soundwave, an awesome day of music and sun but not so user friendly for those watching their food intake. I didn’t do too badly as I had packed snacks. I had 2 sushi rolls for lunch and 2 steamed pork buns for dinner. The problems came on the way home from the festival. Tired and hungry and in desperate need of a toilet we pulled into McDonalds and disaster struck – I happily tucked into a cheeseburger and some chips. I could not drink the soft drink it tasted disgusting. Then the next day I felt hungover. I did not drink any alcohol and I drank plenty of water. The only thing I can think of is that bloody cheeseburger. Note to self: do not eat the crap food no matter how hungry; you will feel crap the next day!

Day 3 – Saturday. My husband Grandpa’s birthday and we head out for lunch. My food was probably not too bad. A steak with salad....but my girls had fish & chips and I did eat a few chips....and a potato cake. Back to their place for coffee and cake, I could’ve said no...But instead I sat there and had a small piece of birthday cake. Husband said to me later that it had really frustrated him that I said yes to the cake....I could’ve said NO, like he said I knew I’d had a bad few days and my brain clicked into old Sarah mode...’well you’ve written this week off already with the bad eating, what’s one more going to hurt?’ Well that’s it, no more! We had a 12WBT dinner to get straight back on track (even though I couldn’t be bothered cooking) and I am back to work today and back into routine. Old Sarah would’ve had said F$#K it might as well get take away for dinner too after the day I’ve just had, I probably would’ve kept going the next day too and started that vicious cycle all over again. Instead we got straight back into the groove with dinner and that has set me up to keep going

Now it seems I have eating under control (most of the time) so someone please turn on my love for exercise so I can up the Ante there and get fit too
This is what i need to Change
